Welcoming your newborn into the world is one of life’s greatest joys and capturing those first moments is a gift that lasts forever. If you’ve booked a session at eStudio ViCa, you might be wondering: What do I need to prepare? What should I bring? Will my baby cooperate?
Don’t worry! this guide is here to help you feel calm and confident before your session.
1. Timing Is Everything
We recommend scheduling your shoot when your baby is between 5 to 14 days old (or 14 to 21 days for C-section mummies). At this stage, babies are typically sleepier, easier to pose, and less prone to colic or baby acne.
Once you’ve booked, don’t worry about remembering to follow up, we’ve got you! We’ll reach out to you about 2–3 weeks before your estimated due date (EDD) to confirm or adjust your photoshoot date depending on your delivery.
If your shoot is already booked—perfect! If not, contact us early to secure your preferred date. Early bird perks are available for bookings made at least 2 months in advance.
2. What to Bring
We keep things simple so you don’t have to pack a whole nursery. Here’s a quick checklist:
Milk – Whether you're breastfeeding or using formula, we’ve got you covered. We provide ready warm water (Ruhens water dispenser) and milk warmer to help prepare bottles anytime during the session.
Pacifier – Optional, but helpful for soothing if baby needs a little extra comfort.
Diapers & wipes – Feel free to bring your preferred brand, though we do have a clean, sanitized changing mat, which is replaced after every baby.
Your outfits – Soft, neutral-toned outfits work beautifully for timeless portraits.
Any heirloom item – A special blanket, soft toy, or family keepsake you’d like to include in the shoot.
We provide all wraps, props, and baby outfits, and every item is washed and properly sanitized after each use, ensuring a safe and hygienic experience for every baby.
3. Bringing Older Siblings Along
We love including siblings in the session! To help things go smoothly:
Prep your little ones in advance and get them excited.
Bring snacks, a favourite toy, or book to keep them occupied.
We’ll photograph siblings early in the session so they can relax afterward.
Outfit tip: soft, neutral clothing works best for a cohesive look.
Our studio is welcoming and kid-friendly, and we’ll guide the flow, so it feels fun and stress-free.
4. Feeding Before the Session
A full tummy helps baby feel relaxed and sleepy. If possible, feed your baby right before the session starts or we can pause anytime during the shoot for feeding or cuddles. 5. Keep Calm and We’ll Handle the Rest
Our studio is thoughtfully designed with your comfort in mind. From a cozy, temperature-controlled environment to a dedicated nursing area, changing station, and baby warmer, everything is set up to help you and your little one feel at ease.
And don't worry if baby cries, that’s completely okay. Our sessions are fully baby-led, meaning we follow your baby’s natural rhythm without rushing or forcing any pose. If your baby needs to feed, cuddle, or simply take a break, we’ll pause and give them (and you) all the time needed. We’re here to gently soothe and support your baby, so you can enjoy the experience stress-free while we focus on capturing those precious moments.
6. What to Expect During the Shoot
A typical newborn session takes 2–3 hours. We’ll gently guide you through the process and show you how to pose, while baby enjoys their cozy session.
Afterward, we’ll send you all the watermarked preview photos so you can select your favourites for editing. Printed products and albums are also available upon request.
Bonus Tips for Parents
Get a good night’s sleep (if possible!)
Bring snacks for yourself/toddler (if any)
Don’t worry if baby cries, we’re used to it ♥
Trust the process, we’re here for you every step of the way
